Transferring MP3 Audio only from an OCR Program (Kurzweil)
There are a variety of Optical Character Recognition Software (OCR) programs that allow for the scanning of materials. The ClassMate Reader can play files that are in the MP3 format. Newer programs allow for this option. These files may be transferred as audio for the purposes of hearing the text with the capacity to select voices and rates by the software. The ClassMate allows you to enter text notes, bookmarks, and voice notes with the capacity to alter playback speed.
Choose option A or B and then follow either with C
A. Connecting the ClassMate Reader with the USB cable
- Connect one end of the USB cable to the ClassMate Reader and the other end to the computer's USB port.
- Turn the ClassMate Reader on. Notice the "Connected" message on screen.
- The ClassMate Reader (removable disk) will be located under My Computer in the directory of your computer.
B. Using SD Card reader
- Insert the ClassMate's SD card into your computer's SD card reader. It will be recognized by Windows as a removable disk.
C. Transferring an Audio MP3 File from an OCR program
Open the OCR program
Open the file you wish to transfer
Select File, then Audio Files, Create Audio File
A window will appear allowing you to select the range of pages, reading voice, speed, format (WAV or MP3) and change the file name.
Select OK after which the computer will go through an audio query to process the files. This will take few minutes. When finished, it will be saved in a file called Output Audio.
The audio files are found in a folder name Kurzweil 3000 Output Audio. Open the folder and select File, then Copy
Reopen your SD card from the ClassMate Reader or an SD Card reader.
Open up $VRotherbooks or $VRMusic depending on how you want the audio played - see user guide for more details.
Select Edit and Paste. You can also drag the files to the new folder
Safely remove SD card from the computer.

- Find the icon on the bottom right tool bar. (green arrow pointing left)
- Right-click the icon and see the words "safely remove hardware" will appear.

- Select safely remove hardware
- Dialog box will appear
- Select Stop for ClassMate Reader or for the removable disk
