Saving Word Processing Documents

Word documents may be saved directly to the ClassMate's SD card when saved as html, xml or txt format.

You can save these files to the $VRTEXT folder on the SD card.

Choose option A or B and then follow either with C

A.        Connecting the ClassMate Reader with the USB cable           

• Connect one end of the USB cable to the ClassMate Reader and the other end to the computer's USB port.
• Turn the ClassMate Reader on.  Notice the "Connected" message on screen.
• The ClassMate Reader (removable disk) can be found under My Computer.

B.        Using SD Card reader

• Insert the ClassMate's SD card into your computer's SD card reader. It will be recognized by Windows as a removable disk.

 

• C. Saving a word processing document.

 

• With the document open, select File and Save As

 

• Look in the Save In and select the location of your SD card.

 

• Open the folder $VRTEXT

 

• Change the file name if needed.

 

• Save as Type should be changed to txt, xml or html as the format

 

• Click Save

• Safely remove SD card from the computer.

  • Find the icon on the bottom right tool bar. (green arrow pointing left)

  • Right-click the icon and see the words "safely remove hardware" will appear.

  • Select safely remove hardware

• Dialog box will appear. For either the ClassMate Reader or the Removable disk, select Stop.
