Oliveros, Partner Program Manager with Bookshare.org. As
Partner Program Manager, Mario works to bring Bookshare.org
services and tools to individuals with print disabilities
around the nation. Bookshare.org is the world's largest
online library of accessible books for people with print
disabilities, and its mission is to remove the barriers
that prevent people with print disabilities from accessing
and reading high quality books.
The goal of this presentation is to demonstrate how Bookshare.org
helps people with print disabilities to gain access to much
needed reading materials through its online library and
a variety of assistive technologies. Bookshare.org's work
has proven that by providing easy access to high quality
reading materials, individuals with print disabilities become
more engaged in the world of books and enjoy reading more!
During this presentation Mario will discuss a variety of
benefits that come with a Bookshare.org membership including
access to over 41,000 educational books, leisure reading,
special collections, and periodicals. He will discuss the
impact of Bookshare.org in schools and education and how
membership is now FREE for all students of any age through
an award from the U.S Department of Education, Office of
Special Education Programs. And he will discuss how books
are downloaded from the Bookshare.org library and read with
assistive technology.
Specifically, participants will learn:
What is Bookshare.org?
What is in the Bookshare.org library?
What are the benefits of Bookshare.org?
Who is eligible for Bookshare.org, and what are the
membership options?
How are books read using assistive technology?
How to get started reading books with Bookshare.org?
